This blog is for the girls!
For every woman who has a closet FULL of clothes but with nothing to wear. Don’t worry, you are not alone! This blog is just what you need to understand what is the perfect fit for every wedding. From black tie to a casual summer wedding we got you covered!
Let’s start off casual. You are invited to a backyard summertime wedding with a casual dress code. What does that even mean? First, find those comfy yet stylish sandals! The things with backyard weddings or any venue that is outdoors, there is a good chance you will be walking on grass. The last thing anyone wants is getting those heels stuck in the ground. A cute wedge or block heel is a great alternative to a stilettos! We would suggest a flowy dress that is in a floral or summery pattern. This style of wedding is the perfect opportunity to wear that dress that makes you feel like you are wearing a ray of sunshine! You can also wear a light jumpsuit if dresses aren’t your style. We love a summertime jumpsuit that yells fun in the sun!
Let’s step it on with a Cocktail style wedding! We all love being able to wear our little black dress paired with the perfect set of high heels. This type of wedding is the perfect occasion to wear just that. Just our opinion, however we feel that black and white are two colors that you should try to avoid while attending a wedding. There is nothing wrong with a little black dress or a stylish black suit, although trying something in an emerald green or pastel pink is a more festive way to celebrate the happy couple. We suggest trying something in a more luxurious fabric that steers away from being too casual. Adding a dash of sparkle with statement earrings or necklace is never a bad idea!
Black Tie weddings is the time to pull out all of the stops! That dress in the back of your closet you never get the chance to wear, now it’s time for it to shine. We suggest wearing a floor length dress for the dress code as it creates a more elegant look. A classic up-do will elevate your overall look, along with adding some beautiful high heels. One of our favorite ways to dress for a black tie dress code is choosing a dress with a bold statement, such as a drop back or lace detailing or embellishments. If you are not one for dresses, you are still able to wear a jumpsuit, just ensure it has a similar feel to an elegant dress.
Now you know what to wear, let’s take a minute and mention a few don’ts when it comes to wearing attire. We mentioned it before however we are going to say it again, please do not wear white to a wedding. The bride is the focus since it’s her wedding day so you do not want to take any of the attention away from her. Not saying all white is bad, just be cautious as to how much white is in your wedding attire. We also have to mention hats. Honestly we love a good hat however when it comes to dressing for a wedding let’s leave the hats at home. Ensure whatever you choose to wear ensures it is comfortable and you feel secure in the outfit. The last thing anyone wants is a fashion mishap, especially since there is sure to be plenty of cameras out. That being said, we suggest bringing two pairs of shoes to attend a wedding. Once the dance starts you will want to have a more practical option for your dancing shoes. Having bare feet during a dance can easily turn into an unfortunate accident. Believe us when we say that broken glass ends up on the dance floor. Last but not least remember when and where the wedding is, especially when it comes to Alberta weddings. The weather is a funny thing and you never know what mother nature is going to throw at us. Ensure you bring a jacket, change of socks (if needed), sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, umbrella, mitts and tough or anything else that may seem fitting for the wedding date.
With all of that in mind, we don’t want to miss the most important rule when it comes to dressing for a wedding. Wear what makes you feel AMAZING! We will always have a better time when we feel good. Weddings are full of love and laughter and the last thing you want to feel is self conscious. Rock your own style and enjoy the wedding!
