Welcome to the 2023 wedding season.

Throughout the month of June we are sharing wedding tips on our social media, however we thought we would put them all in one place for you!

We all love an outdoor wedding, there is something magically about sitting outside for a reception overlooking the beautiful view. However it can get very hot here (especially in Kelowna) and if you are setting up the reception earlier in the day do not to set out any real candles too soon. The hot sun will melt the wax and make it much harder to light the candles later for the reception. How do you get around this frustrating candle problem? We suggest either faux candles or if you want the real deal wait until the cocktail hour to set them out, you won’t need to light the candles until people start to be seated for the reception so nobody will be the wiser.

We all love a cute welcome sign!
If you are having an outdoor ceremony the problem that can happen is the elements may not be in your favor causing the sign to fall over. Wind can blow the sign down (over and over again) if you not have have a way to attach it the stand/easel. We suggest either a wire, zip-tie or tape depending on the sign material, also make sure the stand/easel is heavy enough not to also blow over!

Its the little things! We love when couples get creative with personal touches throughout their wedding. This bride created her own wine labels, not only does it not cost a lot but it is also a cute ideas to save a bottle or two for those upcoming anniversaries. One thing to keep in mind with wine is that not all guests are wine drinkers, if you are not sure how many guests will drink wine you can create a ‘wine card’ for them to redeem at the bar for their complimentary table wine. That way the tables with wine drinkers will enjoy the wine and not have it wasted on the guests who prefer other drink options.

Who could forget about the wedding cake! It may be tempting to put the wedding cake out earlier in the day however two hours is the magic number when it comes to placing the cake out for the guests to see. (Of course there are other factors like room temperature and size of the cake however two hours is a normally a safe bet.) It allows the cake to come to room temperature because who likes a cold cake, however it will still be in a food safe temperature. Be sure to schedule the cake properly into the wedding day timeline!
