Once again Autumn is in the air!

When we think of fall we think of new beginnings, the start of a new chapter. As you may have read in Our Story fall is inspiration for In This Moment Weddings which creates an added level and excitement for the ITM Weddings team. After a busy summer our ‘wedding season’ continues. Fall and Winter weddings are a favorite for ITM! Fall also means another team photo shoot! With all the color changing it is the perfect time to get new photos for the website and social media. We were lucky enough to collaborate again with the amazing Derrick with Converge Studios for our shoot. He is the mastermind behind creating our beautiful logo! If you have not already given him a follow head over to Facebook and Instagram now.

We chose the perfect day for the outdoor photo shoot. For Alberta getting amazing weather plus a fantastic sunset is a miracle and that is what we got! We shared a sneak peak from the shoot, did you get a chance to see it? We are so pleased with how the photos turned out, Derrick is a true wizard with a camera!

With change in the air I would like to introduce our newest member to the

ITM Weddings team!

Hi, I’m Katy.

I’m a lover of all things artistic and am passionate about design and self-expression. I studied at Artist’s Within in Calgary and received my diploma as a makeup artist in 2006.  During my studies I explored many different styles, including; Avant Garde, Old Hollywood Glamour, Boho Chic and of course, Bridal.

I worked in the service industry for several years and took great pride in being able to provide the best experience possible for my clients. The pride in providing a great experience has helped me in my current career as a customer support specialist for a marketing company. I spend many hours at my desk problem solving and meeting my client’s needs in a high-pressure environment, I’m known by some in my office as the “fire extinguisher”. This has taught me to be able to think on my feet and deal with unexpected situations, quickly and efficiently.

I consider myself somewhat of a foodie. I don’t limit myself to any one kind of cuisine and have been lucky enough to experience amazing food in Asia and more recently in Paris. I love to explore the small intimate establishments where I can interact with the locals and share their joy of good food. I spend many happy hours in my own kitchen reproducing some of the amazing flavors shared with me on my travels.

My passion for makeup has not waned and I have provided makeup services to many brides and their attendants over the years. Weddings are magical events and it’s such a pleasure to be part of someone’s special day and to make them feel amazing.

Since I was a little girl, I had dreamed of the perfect wedding day. My dream came true when I got to plan my own wedding in 2018. I immersed myself in the details of planning the perfect day and instead of being stressed about the whole situation I found myself loving every minute of it, and discovered a newfound passion for event planning. I look forward to sharing that passion with you on your special day!

Favorite subject in high school was: Culinary Arts! I had the pleasure of being taught by a red seal Journeyman Chef, Baker and Sous Chef. This has fueled my passion for food and getting creative in the kitchen, and appreciating the work and creative energy that goes into making a wonderful dish.

The first job I wanted when I was little was: a Vet or a Chef. Vet because I love animals and have all my life, and a chef because of my love of food!

My ultimate comfort food is: Baguette Traditional from Black Sheep Bakery on 17th ave, either smothered in French butter and Brie or a sharp cheddar and carved ham. Tastes so good and reminds me of my Parisian adventures. Honestly anything French, especially escargot.

What animal would I be: Probably a Wolf. Wolves always look after each other in their packs, I really love that about them.

Go to order at Starbucks is: This is hard! In summer, i’m all about the cold brew with the sweet cream cold foam, but fall and winter, I keep it simple with a latte with a bit of brown sugar. Yum!

What mythical creature would I be: a Gryphon (Griffin), they’re a strong protector in most mythology, and are a symbol of strength.

Please join us is welcoming Katy to the In This Moment Weddings team! We are very excited to see what great things are in store for this talented, driven, creative and spirited wedding planner.
