Happy New Year!
With the start of 2022, we are very excited to see all the new wedding trends and ideas that this year is going to bring. However, with the last two wedding seasons being heavily affected by COVID-19, this season is going to be busy! With that, we have a few tips and tricks on how to navigate the busy wedding season and ensure you get the wedding of your dreams.
The first is picking a weekday, being Monday-Thursday, to get married on. This will allow you to avoid the higher demands of weekends. Many vendors may even offer specials for weddings that occur on those days, especially venues. With picking a date during the week, ensuring the venue is close to the largest portion of the guests. That will make it less complicated when choosing a weekday to get married as there will be minimal travel involved.
Along with that, consider having two guest lists. A smaller guest list including your closest family and friends for the ceremony and then a larger guest list to join you for dinner. By doing so your ceremony will be more intimate and the reception more of a party celebration (if that is what you are wanting). This also limits the number of guests who will have to take the day off of work, therefore less push back for choosing a less traditional day!
The second is shopping small. With COVID-19, many people started picking up new crafting hobbies. We are sure we all know at least one person who got a Cricut or started some sort of woodworking during the pandemic. If not, asking around can help find these new crafters. Such people will be excited to help you and honoured for the opportunity. They will also likely be more affordable than other options.

Another tip involves you! Instead of spending hours addressing and sending out save the date and RSVP cards, consider sending them out virtually! This can help cut the expense of the invitations as there is no printing involved. This also lowers the risk of the invitations being lost in the mail or delayed. The same can be applied to thank you cards, however, we still encourage personalizing the thank you cards to the recipients. So having the format remain the same just leaving a space for you to type a nice note on each one will be important!
However, the most important piece of advice we have for navigating 2022 is planning ahead!! Although there are still so many unknowns, it is important to find vendors who are flexible, while still being reasonably priced. Searching for vendors as soon as you have your date picked will help tremendously!
