Hard to believe it is already July and wedding season is in full swing.
With the ITM Weddings team busy working weddings, we wanted to share our Top Five wedding day reminders.
One: As silly as this may sound, remember to Drink and Eat! With nerves and butterflies in full affect it can be hard to think about eating. However making sure the bride (groom and wedding party) has been at least snacking without the day is very important. We want to make sure that nobody gets hangary or faints during the very special wedding day. Especially with hot wedding days drinking lots of water is essential, and no wine or champagne does not count. We suggest bringing lots of snacks, water bottles or juice. Perhaps stay away from things like grape juice or other things that stain.
Two: Beauty sleep! Yes we are looking at all of you when we say that! With the wedding rehearsal the night before followed by dinner it may be tempting to party with the wedding party, family and friends however sleep is waiting. The wedding day will be amazing, full of love and laughter however it is also going to very long. We highly recommend getting a good nights sleep before the big day.
Three: Create a wedding day emergency kit. This can be for the entire bridal party or two separate ones depending on the timeline/locations of the day. The next question is, what should be in this wedding kit?
Sewing kit, pain killers, first aid kit, bobby pins, hair spray, hair ties, sun screen, bug spray, tissues, blotting powder or setting spray, lint roller, safety pins, perfume or body spray, baby powder, lip balm/lip stick, stain remover, fashion tape, lotion, antacids, spray deodorant, phone charger and mints.
Keep in mind this is just a list of suggestions, think about your specific wedding day (locations, time of year, wedding party size ext) and create a kit that will best fits your needs.
Four: Turn off the cell phone. Yes you read that right, not looking at the phone and wondering about the time will take a lot of stress off of you! What we do suggest is asking a bridesmaid or groomsmen to be in charge of the time, talking all the selfies and answering any calls or texts you may receive. As a wedding coordinator we will ask for the cell numbers of the wedding party along with the vendors. If we have a questions the day of we will contact one of the wedding party rather than hassling the Bride. We do not want to add any extra stress when we can sort of the details by the assistance of somebody else.
Five: Live in the moment. We have said this before and we will say it again, the wedding day is going to fly by! We suggest adding into the timeline ‘breaks’ just for you and your new (wife or husband). One of our 2022 couples went and got ice cream together (with the photographer and videographer to capture some adorable photos/video) between their ceremony and reception. This addition to the timeline did not affect any guests, rather gave some time for the newly weds to create some cute memories together. It may sound cheesy but do not forget to just take a moment and let it all in.
For those who have already said “I Do” what tips would you give to a bride to be? Was there something you wish you had or had not done? What sticks out when you think back to that magical wedding day?
Stay tuned to our social media throughout July for more beautiful photos from M & K’s wedding!
